Álafosslopi

Álafosslopi is a traditional, 100% Icelandic wool yarn known for being a bulky (1-ply), warm, and water-repellent yarn ideal for sweaters, blankets, and outerwear. It is composed of a unique, dual-coated fleece (soft inner, tough outer) that is exceptionally breathable and durable, traditionally used for classic Icelandic sweaters.

• Needle Size: Generally 6-6.5 mm (US 10-10.5).
• Gauge: Approximately 13 stitches x 18 rows = 10cm (4").
• Care: Hand wash cold, lay flat to dry.
• Characteristics: Durable, windproof, water-repellent, and rustic.
• Texture: Slightly coarse but very insulating, often used for outer garments. 

Production
Produced in Iceland, it is one of the oldest, most recognized, and high-quality wools for knitting. It is important to check dye lots to ensure color consistency for large projects.
